Stan Goldberg was born in 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 13 Stan Goldberg’s uncle introduced him to the magic of photography. This became his mode of creative expression and remains so to this day. In 1960 he received a World Student Fund fellowship to the Technische Hochschule, Hanover, Germany where he began to explore photography in greater depth. Fritz Gruber, the director of the Photokina, Cologne, Germany, encouraged him to publish his work. Both “Photo Prisma” and “Gebrauchsgraphic” published his work for the first time. In search of more formal training in photography both Minor White and Aaron Siskind offered him fellowships to continue his graduate studies. Stan chose to study with Minor White, later assisting him with his Boston workshops. After many years of producing and creating multimedia presentations and installations, Goldberg returned to his roots as a photographic artist exploring his immediate world through digital photography. The Presby Memorial Iris Garden and Upper Westside Neighborhood Garden have been a source of inspiration for his latest large flower prints.
